David holds a Ph.D. from Georgetown University, an M.T.S. from Harvard Divinity School, and a B.A. from the University of Louisville. Prior to Augustana, David held a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Kinder Institute on Constitutional Democracy at the University of Missouri.

David also writes and speaks regularly on the life and work of twentieth-century monk and social critic Thomas Merton. He is past-President of the International Thomas Merton Society, co-editor of the Merton Annual, and a Trustee of the Merton Legacy Trust.Â
